HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2017/03/05 – “The character is essentially a weapon,” says Logan star Hugh Jackman “A destructive force, but then why he’s been defined by the humanity, the human side of that, It’s a deeply personal story about family and how difficult it is sometimes to connect and to love but we set ourselves in a world where there is a similar pool. Do we close down and just look after our own or do we open up to the world?”
“The three principal characters have one overriding objective in this film.”, says Patrick Stewart, Professor X in Logan “To reach a border to cross it into safety and as we speak there are hundreds of hundreds of thousands of people whose only hope, whose only chance of survival is to reach a border and to cross it to safety. So suddenly our film has become extraordinarily relevant”
“Taking him through the limits that we take him to,” says Hutch Parker, one of the producers of the X-Men Saga about their intentions with this movie. “That was an invitation that really drove us to do a bolder, more grounded, obviously, and hopefully more original version of the story. But it was, in doing that, you were sort of embracing that we’re not doing it again.”
Set in a near future where mutants are close to be extinct, Hugh Jackman is a very aged Logan who has lost most of his healing powers. He spends his days in decadence. Patrick Stewart is Professor X. He suffers from Alzheimer’s. Logan takes care of him as a father figure. Stephen Merchant is Caliban, a mutant who lives with them.
Dafne Keen is Laura Kinney an 11-year-old girl and Logan’s daughter since she was bred with his DNA. The company that created the virus to eliminate the mutants wants to kill her. Logan has been called to protect her and take her to Eden. Boyd Holbrook is Donald Pierce, the company’s Chief of Security who follows them.
