New series, drama about girlfriends reconnecting premiered January 29th, 2018, on AcornTV
HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2018/1/30 – “Well, I don’t want to issue too many spoilers,” says Girlfriends star Phyllis Logan. “But in episode one, we don’t know what’s happened to Micky, her husband, played by the wonderful Steve Evets. And throughout the series, things chop and change. Suspicion falls in various directions and then it gets cleared up and then it falls back.”
Girlfriends is a female driven drama with British humor thrown in friendship is the theme of the show.
“I don’t have Linda’s experience either in her marriage or I mean, I do have experience with having good long term friendships with my girlfriends, my girlies,” says Logan. “We still talk about going on a girls’ night out. That’s getting a bit ridiculous now, isn’t it?”
Phyllis Logan is Linda, a woman who went away with her husband on a cruise. He didn’t come back. Apparently he jumped or fell into the sea. Returning home, Linda reconnects with her longtime friends.
Miranda Richardson is Sue, a magazine editor. She is worried as the staff keeps getting younger.
Zoe Wanamaker is Gail, who is caring for her elderly mother and her son who just got out of prison.
The three have been friends for over 40 years. Now they look back on their lives and want to figure out what is next. They realize that their friendship has withstood the test of time.
