HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2017/2/20 – “Tragedy is a wonderful form of storytelling,” says Bates Motel creator Carlton Cuse. “And the essence of tragedy is that you are hoping against hope that the characters don’t beat they inevitable fate. We very much want you to be rooting for Norman this season. And it’s not our intention to end this movie exactly the way Psycho ended, that would be a real let down and uninspired on our part. Our story will have its own distinct ending that is just like our show, it’s very much its own creation.”

Inspired by Hitchcock’s film Psycho, Bates Motel is a contemporary exploration of the formative years of Norman Bates, his relationship with his mother, Norma, and the world they inhabit. Viewers have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first-hand how Norma helped forge the most famous serial killer of them all.

In Bates Motel Freddie Highmore is teenager Norman Bates.  The series portraits his dangerous transformation through teenage years. He methodically murders his beloved mother, Norma, in the final gut-wrenching episodes of season four.

Season five picks up almost two years later and finds Norman, a grown man now, living a double life.  Publicly he’s a happy and well-adjusted member of the White Pine Bay community. At home Norman struggles with his violent blackouts that continue to increase as Mother threatens to take over his mind completely.

Max Thierot is Dylan Massett, Norman’s half-brother. Since leaving White Pine Bay, he has been living his live blissfully unaware of Norma’s death and Norman’s full on descent into psychosis.  Unfortunately for him, he will soon find himself drawn back into Norman’s insanity. Meanwhile, Nestor Carbonell is Alex Romero, who is currently incarcerated for a perjury and hungers for a chance to destroy his stepson and avenge the murder of his one true love, Norma Bates.

Rihanna is famous movie icon Marion Crane, along with new other faces that find their way to the Bates Motel this season to further complicate Norman’s life and threaten to unearth his dark secrets.
