BEVERLY HILLS, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2015/8/7 – “It is not a traditional costume drama,” says Amazon head of drama development Morgan Wandell. It has a really modern tone to it, and I think, in large part, that’s because Casanova is a really modern man in a lot of ways.”
A touch of American Idol, viewers can vote for having the pilot become a series.
“It explores a little known part of his life where he went to Paris to reinvent himself, and during that time, he was a spy, he was a diplomat, he was an entrepreneur, he founded the French lottery, and he stirred up a lot of trouble, as you would expect him to do as well,” says Wandell. “So there’s a lot of modernity and parallels in some ways to today, and I think you will find that in the show. And it’s just unbelievably lush and beautiful.”
Giacomo Casanov, 18th century playboy, is exiled from Venice. In Paris he reinvents himself at the dawn of the Enlightenment.
Casanova was shot on-location in three European countries. It’s the television debut of Oscar-nominated Director Jean Pierre Jeunet (Amelie) and stars Diego Luna (Y Tu Mama Tambien), Bojana Novakovic (Shameless), Miranda Richardson (Sleepy Hollow) and Ben Daniels (House of Cards), is written by Stuart Zicherman (The Americans). It’s executive produced by Jeunet, Zicherman and Electus’ Ben Silverman (Tudors, Marco Polo).
