Hollywood CA, (Hollywood Daily Star) 2013/7/22 – “If you want to relax and feel good, Hallmark’s about that,” says star Andie MacDowell.
MacDowell stars as Oilvia Lockhart a judge in a small pictures town in Washington. This fictional town is loosely based on author Debbie Macomber’s real life town Port Orchard, Washington. The pilot is two hours long and premiered on Saturday July 20th.
Olivia is surrounded by family and friends. Her mother played by Paula Shaw is the town gossip and with her dog in tow makes friends with everyone. Daughter Justine is dating a man that Olivia knows is bad for her, but realizes that if she says anything she could send her daughter right into his arms for good. The new local newspaper editor Jack Griffith played by Dylan Neal has his eye on her, but has problems and demon’s of his own.
Olivia and Jack clash over a decision she makes in court, and Jack writes an article about her that could cost her a federal judgeship. This is all in the pilot.
The show moves along slower then most dramas. It’s almost like living in the small town. The casting is spot on. And as you watch it feels a little like the town from Gilmore Girls. Everyone knows each other and what is happening and you know about everyone’s business. Great break from all the heavy drama out there. Not to say that there is no drama, it’s there, but it’s quieter kind of drama. It feels like each episode will be about one or two different people so you get to know them and become emotionally involved with the characters.
Based on Macomber’s book series Cedar Cove. There are 14 books in the series.
Produced by 16 Lighthouse Road Productions. Pilot directed by Michael M. Scott; pilot written by Bruce Graham, based on Debbie Macomber’s Cedar Cove series; Debbie Macomber, Harvey Kahn, Mr. Scott, Andie MacDowell, Carl Binder, Ron French, Dan Wigutow and Caroline Moore, executive producers.
Premiered on July 20th and repeating this week. The next episode will be an hour and will be Saturday July 27th 8, Eastern and Pacific times; 7, Central time.
