HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2016/9/5 – “Motorcycles are dangerous, it’s true,” says Harley and the Davidsons star Michiel Huisman. “Harley and the Davidsons is a six-hour, three-episode mini-series on the Discovery Channel about the founding years of Harley-Davidson. I play Walter Davidson, one of the founders. Harley-Davidson was founded by Bill Harley and a couple of the Davidson brothers. It’s an amazing story of perseverance, of friendship. It started in a shed with a couple guys who liked to tinker with bikes and engines.”
Husiman, who also stars in Game of Thrones, is a motorcycle fan. “The first thing when I heard about the project, I hadn’t even heard about the character they had in mind for me, I was like, yeah great! Let’s do it. Then Walter Davidson, the character, turned out to be really fun to try.”
“This is the type of compelling and honest storytelling that fits perfectly for Discovery Channel,” says Discovery Channel president Rich Ross. “It is a story about brotherhood, an ironclad will to succeed and going against the conventional wisdom of that time. The founders of Harley-Davidson created more than just a motorcycle. They created modern entrepreneurism.”
At the start of the 20th century. Walter, Arthur and Bill risked their own fortune and livelihood to launch their dream. Their road was rocky, devious competitors, many obstacles and lots of risk. These blue collar boys were sons of immigrants and had the drive to achieve their American dream. Based on a true story.
