HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2016/10/4 – “I think what we bring is heart,” says Lethal Weapon star Damon Waynes. “There’s a real relationship here. We build characters with real problems and conflicts that they’re trying to overcome. It connects the audience to it. And then there’s humor.”
“We’re not trying to recreate anything,” says star Clayton Crawford. “We’re just trying to bring ourselves to the material and play it honestly. We want to bring the essence of that buddy relationship. They become family.”
Clayton Crawford and Damon Waynes have taken over the roles made famous by Mel Gibson Danny Golver in the classic movie. The chemistry between the two actors, key to this genre, is great. They play off one another with one-liners are spot-on for the characters.
Riggs (Clayne Crawford), who has lost his wife and unborn child in a horrific car accident, has a death wish. Roger Murtaugh (Damon Waynes) recently had open heart surgery. He’s been cleared to be back as work, but must avoid excitement, not easy once he’s partnered with Riggs. Car chases, gun battles and many crazy things happen, interrupted by funny moments.
The story is based on the films staring Mel Gibson and Danny Glover in the 1980s and 1990s. The pilot was directed by McG and produced by Matt Miller.
