HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2013/9/10 – “I think you’re really going to like it more this year,” says Fox X Factor star Simon Cowell. NBC slotted The Voice against The X Factor, stealing a lot of Simon Cowell’s thunder in the process. This time it’s Cowell and Fox up against Fox American Idol star Ryan Seacrest who is hosting the over-the-top NBC game show Million Second Quiz that premiered last night. Will Cowell strike back against NBC or strike out?
Last year The X Factor added Britany Spears and Demi Lovato. Lovato verbally spared with Cowell which added something to the mix of the show, Spears not so much. In fact she was pretty lame… I mean tame.
This year both L.A. Reid, who had been with the show from the beginning, and Spears are not returning. Khloe Kardashian Odam is also not returning. Returning are Cowell and Lovato. Both are engaging with the contestants and the audience. Also returning is Mario Lopez, who’s wife just had a baby boy, will be the only host this year.
New this year’s new judges are former Destiny’s Child Kelly Rowland, who in 2011 was part of the U.K. version of The X Factor and a mostly unknown in the United States, and Latin singer Paulina Rubio, from the Latin version of The Voice.

The format is also getting switched up. Contestant categories will revert to almost what they were in Season 1, (Boys, Girls, Over 25s and Groups), and the grand prize has been reduced to a $1 million recording contract from the $5 million it had been in previous years. It looks like the show has refocused its goal of discovering major talent.
