Hallmark Campfire Kiss, Star Danica McKellar says, “Girls and math and empowerment”

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2017/03/18 –“It’s the first movie that I’m producing as well,” says Campfire Kiss star Danica McKellar.  “It was really fun be able to play a math teacher. I wanted to play a math teacher where I can somehow get some of mission, some of my message about girls and math and empowerment.”

 

“I’m looking forward to the actual [premiere] night,” says McKellar. “This is what we’re gonna do. My husband and I are going to set up a camp, like a camping scenario in our house. We’re going to do indoor camping. Getting in the camping spirit and I’m inviting all my social media followers and fans to join me so It’s going to be a lot of fun. We’ll do smores and hot cocoa and popcorn and make it an indoor camping movie night.”

In Campfire Kiss, Danica McKellar is Dana, a single mom and middle school math teacher who runs her life by the numbers. Dylan Kingwell is Arthur, her 13-year-old son. She decides they need to get away and reconnect. They head to a family wilderness camp for spring break. Not long after arriving, they meet their neighbors in the tent next to theirs.

Paul Greene is Steve and Ali Skovbye is Lacey, an outdoorsman and his teen daughter.  He and Dana are exact opposites and instantly clash.

Barbara Niven is Beverly, Dana’s friend and one of the camp counselors who sees Dana’s control issues and encourages her to try something new. Dana and Arthur agree to accompany Steve and Lacey on a hike in the woods. The four get lost and eventually find their way back to camp in one piece, Dana begins to realize that loosening up a bit and living in the moment might do her some good.

Dana and Steve find common ground in their ongoing struggles to bond with their teenage kids they discover a growing attraction. When the last campfire has been put out at the end of the trip and they go their separate ways, the romance seems doomed until Arthur and Lacey conspire to play matchmaker, certain that the pair belongs together.
