HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2015/7/12 – “At best, baby cats have the barest, most rudimentary grasp of the rules and regulations of American football and baseball,” says Paw Star Game commentator Mary Carillo. “And, that’s really okay with me. Frankly, watching kittens play any sport is going to be endearing and adorable. People truly enjoy watching kittens play baseball, even though they boldly flaunt almost every one of the time honored traditions of the game.”

Paw Star Game is more of an exhibition game, a salute to mid-season baseball, than Hallmark’s year-end Kitten Bowl. Carillo says it was Crown Media Family Networks President and CEO Bill Abbott who had the idea of presenting kitten sports.

Iconic radio voice of the New York Yankees, John Sterling, and award-winning sports analyst Mary Carillo voiced the action from a studio in New York City during the game, which is pre-recorded. Beth Stern hosts. Carillo will be covering the tennis championships at Wimbledon live today.

The kittens in the game will be offered for adoption. With Kitten Bowl, all 90 of the animals were adopted. “I hope that the Paw Star Game competitors have the same rate of success,” says Carillo.

As the kittens take the field to swat balls and catch line drives, they will are cheered on by celebrities including Ed Asner, Maria Menounos, Mario Lopez, Al Roker, Heather McDonald, Tricia Helfer, Deidre Hall, Dawn Olivieri and Camren Bicondova. For highlights of kitten training and player profiles see Cat Center hosted by John Sterling and Mary Carillo.

“Launching Paw Star Game is the next exciting extension of our kitten sports franchise that has already seen tremendous success with the network’s annual Kitten Bowl,” says Crown Media Family Network EVP of Programming and Publicity Michelle Vicary. “We have extraordinary talent partaking in Paw Star Game, lead by host Beth Stern, whose support of pet adoption and profound love for animals are unmatched, and announcers John Sterling and Mary Carillo who bring color commentary, humor and heart to the special.”

The 2015 Paw Star kitten line-up includes Derek Cheetah, Joe DiMeowgio, Don Cattingly, Mickey Meowntle, Siamese Sosa, Willie Strays, Wade Pawggs, Rod Purrew, Beau Catson, Bombaybe Ruth, “Bootless” Joe Catson, “Hairballin” Hank Purron, Lurk Kitson, Roberto Clawmente, Sandy Kocats, Darryl Pawberry, Button, Corey Clawber, Cuddles Cattingly, Purfessor Isaac Furrowitz, Buddy, Fluffy Frisky, Hunter Pounce, Jose Catseco, Paw Prints Fielder, Socks, Max, and Oliver. The competing teams are the Gold Crown Catamounts, North Shore Bengals, Mystery Meercats and Keepsake Cougars.

Paw Star Game is executive produced by 3 Ball Entertainment’s JD Roth, Todd A. Nelson, Adam Kaloustian and Brant Pinvidic, with Jesse Drollette as co-executive producer. 3 Ball Entertainment credits include Extreme Weight Loss (ABC), Bar Rescue (Spike) and My Cat From Hell (Animal Planet).
