HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2015/5/1 – “One of the most important things about a murder mystery is that the clues are laid out, that if the reader or viewer were paying attention, when the end comes and you look back, it all falls into place,” says Murder, She Baked: A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery star Alison Sweeny.
“Hannah Sweenson has this adorable, if I may say, cookie store called the Cookie Jar, here in Eden Lake,” says Sweeny. “You go through the story of Hannah discovering that she happens to have some skills in putting together the clues and solving the mystery. One of the most important aspects of the novels that we incorporated into the movie is the use of baking as a metaphor for life. In particular Hannah loves associating a cookie with a person. I htink that falls back to here intuition. you know how people say they look like their dogs? For Hannah people are their cookie, or their cookie is them. It’s like a gut instinct for her. People choose a cookie that really says something about who they are as a person.”
“Viewers are going to love this sweet new mystery series that brings together romance, intrigue, family fun and an all-star, talented cast,” says Crown Media Family Networks EVP Michelle Vicary. “Alison Sweeney, Cameron Mathison and Barbara Niven are an unbeatable combination who will expertly bring Joanne Fluke’s great mysteries to life.”
Based on the Hannah Swensen Mystery Series by New York Times Bestselling Author Joanne Fluke, the Murder She Baked TV movie has romance and plot twists to keep you guessing who the killer is. The chemistry between Swensen and Mathison works, with an engaging give-and-take in their relationship. As the chemistry grows between the characters they use their brains, not violence, to find the killer.
Hannah Swensen (Alison Sweeny) owns the Cookie Jar, the location for sweets, coffee and local gossip. In Eden Lake, a small town in Minnesota, everyone knows each other and their business. When a good friend dies behind Hannah’s shop, she can’t help but get involved. Detective Mike Kingston (Cameron Mathison) comes to town to take lead the investigation. Mike warns Hannah not to get involved, but she keeps digging and over her head. Hannah’s mother Delores (Barbara Niven) is into matchmaking and sets Hannah up with the new dentist in town.
