HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2017/2/17 – “Liberals are using the Oroville Dam situation as a way to stress the need for more infrastructure spending, and they have a point,” says Real Time with Bill Maher comedian and political satirist Bill Maher. “But I think there’s another point that’s worth making, something that the Steve Bannons and Stephen Millers of the world don’t understand: governing isn’t all fun stuff, like yelling at Mexicans and trying to steer the nation into World War III.”
“Lots of it, most of it in fact, is boring stuff that nobody cares about and isn’t going to make for a great debate on cable news,” says Maher. “Like allocating money to maintain a dam. Like updating the pipes in Flint, Michigan. Like modernizing air traffic control. Obviously, to say it’s boring doesn’t mean it’s not important. It’s almost always more important than what’s being hotly debated on cable news. What kind of First Lady will Melania be? It’s boring, and uncontroversial. That’s why bureaucrats handle most of it.”
Maher’s weekly talk show on HBO features a panel of guests who discuss current events in politics and the media. Maher offers his unique perspective on this contemporary issues. The show includes an opening monologue, round table discussions with panelists and interviews with guests well-versed in the subject matter. Additional experts such as journalists, professors and politicians participate in the panel, and fewer actors and celebrities are included.
The show premieres its 15th season on February 17th, 2017, with Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos as the top-of-show interview guest. Actress Leah Remini is the mid-show interview guest. The roundtable guests are former Ga. Rep. Jack Kingston, international terrorism expert Malcolm Nance and comedian Larry Wilmore is a British journalist, author, entrepreneur, public speaker, and senior editor of Breitbart News, a far-right news and opinion website based in the United States.
With nearly 275,000 subscribers to his YouTube speeches, Yiannopoulos has a forthcoming book, Dangerous, to be published by a Simon & Schuster imprint geared to conservatives. Slammed by criticism from the Chicago Review of Books and others, Simon & Schuster said it doesn’t condone discrimination and said the book is about free speech. CNBC and Fox consider Yiannopoulos an infamous mouthpiece for alt-right, a movement that has been embraced by White Supremacists.
