HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Stars) 2017/04/16 – “We were wondering what they’d came up with,” says Veep star Gary Cole. “Basically it’s what happens to an administration that is shown the door, everybody kind of scatters, tries to pick up work in Washington, so we’re all kind of in different places. We don’t cross paths as often as we did before. We’re not all in the West Wing anymore, obviously.”
“Selina, Julia, is exploring options such as, possibly, looking in the memoirs , stuff like that” says Cole. “They’ve found a way to take some of these worlds that we are all in, some are in the media, some are working in other parts of the government, but he writers have found a way to hook us up sometimes, and then part us away and then come back.”
“I have been relegated to a job working for a less than desirable congressman,” says Cole. “Basically scraping the bottom of the barrel, I’m doing my same job but doing it for someone else.”
“Veep has always picked prototypes from current affairs,” says Cole. “But they have never identified them as such. I don’t think it is ever been reflective of exactly what’s going on, I think it takes in circumstances that have happened in the past and kind of blends them into their own world.”
“At this point is very difficult to satirize politics,” says Cole. “How are you over the top at all, what can you come up with that’s over the top, that line keeps moving so is harder and harder to do.”
