HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Stars) 2017/04/20 – “Well I’m shocked, actually that it became such a big hit right away” says Married at First Sight counselor Dr. Pepper Schwartz. “I think what happened in Married at First Sight is that it represented the hope that maybe you could put two people together and if they have enough good will and enough expert support that love could flourish and what happened is that it actually happens. I wish it happened all the time but it happens some of the times. ”

“If we find people of good will with enough social science and psychology to put them together,” says Schwartz. “We don’t do it randomly. We do a lot of work to figure out who these two people should be together. In fact if they’re really willing to work at it and commit and to see why we put them together, they have a chance at creating a relationship of great strength and great love.”

“When people see a happy ending at least some of the time I think it gives them hope,” says Schwartz. “I think it gives them the desire to see if they too could construct a good marriage if they put their heart into it.”

In Married at First SightDr. Pepper Schwartz is the sociologist. He is part of a group of experts. They will have to create what they believe are three compatible couples based on “scientific matchmaking” with Chicago-based singles.

What about objections that matchmaking may not be scientific? Whether questionnaire-based matchmaking is any better than using astrology is an open question. However, dating is a fascinating experience to watch, whether arranged by computers, the stars, relatives, friends, at random in Dating in the Dark, or clothing optional in Dating Naked.

Rachel DeAlto is the communication and relationship expert. She also helps creating and coaching these couples that agree to getting legally married to a stranger the moment they first meet.

Pastor Calvin Roberson is the marriage counselor. He supports the couples that will not meet until they walk down the aisle. They will see each other face-to-face, for the first time, at the altar. The series will capture each couple’s journey as they go from wedding, to honeymoon, to early nesting, to the daily struggle of working on their marriage. After several weeks together, each couple must decide if they remain together or divorce.
