Muppets go on tour and sing there way out of trouble **** 4 Stars
by Gabrielle Pantera
HOLLYWOOD, CA 2014/9/10 – “The audience really embraced the Muppets with our big screen come
back two years ago,” says Muppets Most Wanted producer Todd Lieberman. “They love
the Muppets like we all did growing up. Kermit and the gang are as relevant today as they were 30 years ago. We realized that there was a lot of enthusiasm for these characters so we wanted to bring them back but with a completely different story and all new human cast.”
“It takes a special actor to work with the Muppets,” says Muppets Most Wanted producer David Hoberman. “There has to be a passion for these characters, a genuine belief in them and an appreciation for their performances. Ricky, Ty and Tina all have a natural rapport with Kermit, Piggy and the gang which shows on screen. It would be impossible to pull off a movie like this without the right chemistry.”
Muppets Most Wanted is the sequel to the 2011 musical comedy The Muppets. The sequel features a star-studded cast including Tina Fey and Ricky Gervais. The silly comedy you expect from Muppets movies is here with physical comedy and sight gags. Once again Miss Piggy is ready to marry Kermit. His evil twin Constantine steps in to take advantage. The movie is suitable for all ages. Those who grew up with the Muppet movies will be happy to be back into the familiar and funny patter of the Muppets. Tina Fey singing at the Russian Prison camp will have all singing along.
The Muppets are approached by a sleezy showbiz promoter named Dominic Badguy (Ricky Gervais) who cons them into embarking on a world tour against Kermit’s misgivings. Dominic’s partner in crime is Constantine, who looks like Kermit. Constantine is the world’s most dangerous frog. He escapes from a Siberian gulag. He and Dominic start their heists all across Europe with the Muppet tour as their cover. Their ultimate goal is England’s crown jewels.
Most of the Muppets don’t realize Kermit has been replaced by Constantine. But Animal senses something is wrong. Kermit has been taken as Constantine to Russian prison. Kermit wonders why his friends haven’t come to find him. He doesn’t know that they don’t realize he’s missing. A few of them do notice he’s not acting the same and he suddenly has an accent.
How will Kermit get out in time to save Miss Piggy to rejoin the rest of the Muppets?
The opening song was written by Bret McKenzie.
