HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2014/11/24 – “They’re hugely entertaining, but at the end of the day still adhere to the values of really spotlighting what makes these animals such awe-inspiring and magnificent predators worth your attention and worth saving,” says Nat Geo Wild VP Geoff Daniels.
For the fifth year in a row, Nat Geo WILD features wild felines in Big Cat Week. Cheetahs, lions and tigers, there’s drama and playfulness in a family of cats. The week starts with Man v. Lion. Big-cat tracker Boone Smith gets into an acrylic box while the lions have a feast outside.
There are six other new shows. CGI images show how wild cats might evolve depending on extreme circumstances on Earth in Future Cat. Leopard: Ultimate Survivor follows a leopard with her cubs for the first years of life. Tiger’s Revenge, filmed in India’s Ranthambore National Park; shows the rivalry between two sister tigers. Lion Gangland is an in-depth look at a lion pride. It shows the rivalries and how the pride struggles. Tiger Wars shows tigers reclaiming an ancient kingdom in India.
Repeating this week are Nat Geo WILD’s big cat films two from National Geographic explorers-in-residence Dereck and Beverly Joubert: Game of Lions and The Last Lions. “The Jouberts have lived in the bush, they’ve lived with lions their entire lives,” says Daniels. “These lions are their families, so we want to once again showcase these extraordinary films that they’ve made.”
November 19th features a special premier of Safari Live. Wildlife experts Pieter Pretorius and Hayden Turner take viewers on African safari rides. Their website to stream the daily tour twice a day until January 31, 2015.
