NBC Summer kicks off with two reality shows that do away with the prizes formula, testing survival and adaptability

HOLYLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2015/5/25 – NBC is premiering two new/game show series this summer, starting with The Island on Monday, May 26th at 10pm. Survivalist Bear Grylls created the series based on the U.K. series of the same name. It puts 14 men on a deserted island with nothing but the clothes on their backs and minimal survival tools. No eliminations. No prizes. No winners, The Island is all about the men testing their physical and mental limits under the most extreme of circumstances.
I Can Do That premiers on Tuesday, May 27th at 10pm. Host Marlon Wayans (Scary Movie) puts six celebrities to the test by forcing them to master a new skill every week. There are no prizes, eliminations, or judges on I Can Do That. The celebrities are Ciara, Nicole Scherzinger, Joe Jonas, Jeff Dye, Alan Ritchson, and Cheryl Burke.

With singers, dancers, comedians, contortionists, impressionists, jugglers, magicians, ventriloquists and hopeful stars, all vying for their chance to win America’s hearts and the $1 million prize. Howard Stern, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel return as judges, and Nick Cannon returns as host.

Aquarius 9:00 pm NEW Two hour premiere. Sam Hodiak (David Duchovny,) a decorated World War II vet and homicide detective, barely recognizes the city he’s now policing. When Emma Karn (Emma Dumont, the 16-year-old daughter of an old girlfriend, goes missing in a sea of hippies and Hodiak agrees to find her. He enlists the help of Brian Shafe (Grey Damon) a young, idealistic undercover vice cop who’s been allowed to grow his hair out – to infiltrate this new counterculture and find her.
The two dedicated officers and soon realize they need to find her and Emma home. She’s has joined a small but growing band of drifters under the sway of a career criminal who now dreams of being a rock star: Charles Manson (Gethin Anthony).
Writer John McNamara (In Plain Sight) serves as executive producer with Marty Adelstein (Prison Break), David Duchovny and Melanie Greene. Aquarius is a production of Tomorrow Studios, a joint partnership between Marty Adelstein and ITV Studios.
