HOLLYLWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2016/1/28 – “It’s going to make Lost look like Mr Roger’s Neighborhood,” says You, Me and the Apocalypse star Rob Lowe. “My character, Father Jude, it was one of those scripts that truthfuly when I read the first scene I knew I was going to do it, because he’s such a character. Vatican priest, foul-mouthed, boozing, smoking…comes to the life after a life of sin, but really a man of devout faith.”
“In the show, humanity realizes a comet, a meteor, is going to hit in 21 days. You have this disparate group, totally unrelated to one another, through their lives. They all end up in the bomb shelter as the comet hits. You have a Vatican priest, that’ me, you have the President of the United States, sort of a mid-level functionary at a bank, a convict on death row. All of thes people somehow come together…during the apocalypse. The writers did an amazing job of weaving together these story lines with twists and turns you never see coming.”
This hour-long comedy has lots of action. It’s a smarter then FOX’s Last Man on Earth. The story of a misfits facing the end of the world hops around at first, but the longer you watch the easier it is to follow. With each episode we see more connections between them. Unfortunately, there is smoking that will be a turn-off for families.
Jamie (Mathew Baynton Yonderland) is a bank manager from Slough, UK. His life is going nowhere and his wife went missing seven years ago. Father Jude (Rob Lowe, Parks and Recreation) is a foul-mouthed priest who is checking all the claims of miracles around the world. His new assistant is Sister Celine Leonti (Gaia Scodellaro, Cugino e Cugino”). She is both timid and bold. Rhonda (Jenna Fischer, The Office”) is sent to a maximum security prison for a crime she didn’t commit. Leanne (Megan Mullally, Will & Grace) is a bit unhinged and a white supremacist. They reach a deep bunker in Slough.
