Paramount Network Replaces Spike, Premieres Miniseries Waco

New series, new network, Paramount Network replaces Spike, premieres Waco, tonight at 7pm PT on DirecTV, 10pm ET

HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2018/1/24 – “We want to be the definitive new home for premium storytelling,” says Paramount Network president Kevin Kay. “Our goal is to change the game of how viewers experience high-end scripted on basic cable.”

Kay overseas Viacom cable networks CMT and TV Land is in charge of the change over from SPIKE to Paramount Network. The network will launch four new scripted shows this spring. They are keeping a few unscripted shows that were on SPIKE.

On January 18th, 2018, Spike officially became Paramount Network. Three shows that made the move from Spike to Paramount: Lip Sync Battle, Ink Master and Bar Rescue.

Tonight is the launch of their first new scripted series, Wacopremiering at  10pm. The six-part miniseries about the tragedy in Waco with David Koresh and the Branch Davidians stars Taylor Kitsch as David Koresh and Michael Shannon as the FBI negotiator. Spike acquired the show before the network name change. The miniseries shows different perspectives of what happened from inside the compound and from the FBI’s perspective.
