HOLLYWOOD, CA (Hollywood Daily Star) 2017/6/4 – “I wanted to do some sort of ode to the place that gave birth to my dreams,” says I’m Dying Up Here executive producer Jim Carrey. “I wanted to capture all of the desperation and violence, and the joy in a real way.”

The fictional series explores L.A.’s famed ‘70s stand-up comedy scene where the careers of legends such as David Letterman, Jay Leno and Richard Pryor were launched.
In I’m Dying Up Here Academy Award winner, Melissa Leo is Goldie Herschlag, the owner of the biggest comedy club in Los Angeles. She runs the place with an iron fist, but can’t hide the fact that she cares about her comedians and pushes them to succeed.
